Cleo Sgouropoulou holds a diploma and a doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). She is Professor with the Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering at the University of West Attica, Vice Rector for Economics, Planning and Development at the University of West Attica and Director of the research laboratory “Educational Technology and eLearning Systems”.
Her field of knowledge and research interests are part of the scientific field of software engineering with emphasis on the design, development and standardization of Learning Technologies. She has participated as a Principal Investigator or Researcher in 26 nationally and European-funded projects related to e-learning, Open Learning Resources (OER), learning outcomes, modeling of skills and abilities to enhance lifelong learning, intelligent and adaptive learning systems, open data and educational data mining / analysis.
Prof. Sgouropoulou is the coordinator of the Technical Committee 48 / ΟΕ3 of the Hellenic Standardization Organization (ELOT), National Representative and elected Vice President of the European Standardization Committee (CEN) “ICT for Learning, Education and Training” as well as National Representative to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). She has participated in the development of a variety of technical specifications and standards and has been the coordinator of CEN’s project for the drafting of the European standard “European Learner Mobility Achievement Information (EuroLMAI)”. In February 2011, EuroLMAI was officially voted by 27 EU Member States and is one of the first European standards in the field of learning technologies. Prof. Sgouropoulou has published more than 120 articles in international scientific journals, scientific collections and conference proceedings. He is a reviewer of distinguished journals and has served as General Chair, Program Chair and member of scientific conference program committees.
