Intelligent structures with optimized mechanical behavior adapted to loading conditions through polymer 3D printing using Artificial Intelligence

 

“Smart” design and manufacturing of components that were previously not possible with next-generation 3D polymer printers, through the development of numerical methods and optimisation algorithms combined with the use of Artificial Intelligence. By properly guiding the printing parameters of state-of-the-art multi-metal 3D printers and providing the necessary computing power to enable the development of original AI-based algorithms, the ‘distance’ between real constructions and the corresponding computer models will be significantly reduced. Consequently, the actual response of the overall structure of the construction will now be more controllable, giving more freedom to the design, which will not be affected by any geometric constraints, ultimately making the construction completely predictable, as well as safer and more economical, while minimising the energy needed to build it.
